The Vatican Astronomical Observatory is now available online

‍A virtual journey to discover the ancient Vatican institution between science and history, with the visit of the 4 domes of the Observatory, the Pontifical Villas (Cupole Barberini), and the roof of the Pontifical Palace of Castel Gandolfo (Cupole del Palazzo Pontificio): is the digital tour of the Vatican Astronomical Observatory, made by Dimensione3 and now officially online.

The project will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the history of Vatican mirror, to discover the scientists and tools that have traced the path of this ancient Vatican scientific institution, “teletrasportando”, finally, the user from the Barberini Cupoles to the roof of the Pontifical Palace of Castel Gandolfo where we find the two great domes with the Double Astrograph and the Visual Telescope.

The digital exploration of the two sites, designed and manufactured by Dimensione3, is enhanced with custom features and interactions, like the virtual signage, which guides the visitor allowing historical and scientific insights, interactive links between the two stations and refer to the website of the Vatican Specula.
