"Show the project": design publishing beyond physical boundaries

From 17 December 2024 to 2 February 2025, the ADI Design Museum hosted the exhibition Show the project. The paths of a publisher, a journey into the editorial specialized in design through the work of Mario Mastropietro, organized by Associazione Idea. Thanks to the Virtual Tour created by Dimensione3 in collaboration with Forma Ubis, this experience has not been limited to the exhibition spaces of the museum, but has reached an even wider audience, lowering the geographical barriers and making the route accessible even at a distance.

An immersive experience to explore design publishing

The Virtual Tour of the exhibition allowed us to discover fifty years of design publishing through an interactive interface and exclusive multimedia content. Three virtual screens have enriched the path with insights into thematic necklaces, historical texts and magazines that marked the evolution of Exhibition Design, Museumography and Architecture. In addition, thanks to two teleporting assets, visitors could move freely between the different sections, digitally reproducing the physical visit experience.

This solution has ensured not only greater accessibility, but also an immersive and dynamic experience, allowing users to immerse themselves in content with an impossible level of interaction in a simple static visit.

Virtual Tour and Culture: a new way to enjoy art and design

The integration of the Virtual Tour in the exhibition Showing the project It is a concrete example of how technology can expand cultural use, surpassing the spatial and temporal limits of traditional exhibitions. The temporary exhibitions, by their nature, have a limited duration and can often be visited only by a limited audience, composed of those who have the possibility to physically reach the exhibition center. However, thanks to virtual tours, their impact can extend far beyond the closure of the event, making content available at any time and anywhere in the world.

This solution is a valuable resource for cultural institutions, publishers and design professionals, who can thus reach a wider and diverse audience, including students, researchers and enthusiasts who would otherwise not have access to these materials. The Virtual Tours also offer the opportunity to enrich the experience with interactive elements, such as multimedia content, textual insights and customizable paths, transforming the visit into a dynamic and participatory experience.

This is an innovation that does not replace direct experience, but enriches it, offering new opportunities to deepen, explore and access content. In a time when digital is increasingly integrated into learning and dissemination processes, tools such as Virtual Tours represent a bridge between cultural heritage and the needs of an increasingly connected audience, ensuring more inclusive and sustainable use.
